Essentials of Life operates as a free church, meaning that we don't charge dues to our members.
Essentials of Life is also a free church in that we do not receive government endorsement or funding for our general mission. Too often when government funds are accepted, a church's position and doctrine become subtly influenced. When this occurs, a church is not truly free, nor are its people free. Freedom of religion is the basis upon which this country was formed. We will not jeopardize that freedom by entangling ourselves in government bureaucracy which by law we are separate from.
It is not required by law nor has it ever been required by law that churches incorporate. In fact, according to the First Amendment, it is unconstitutional for churches to be placed under laws.
Therefore, Essentials of Life has not filed an application for a 501C3. Be it known that we are philosophically opposed to the idea of seeking the State's permission or recognition when the State does not have jurisdiction over God's work. It is theologically improper to place the Church under the rule of the State. The Church is not and should not be considered subordinate to the State in any way. The two are separate, as they should be.
We believe it is important to protect our freedom to believe and to operate as we are guided by Spirit to do. It is within our doctrine to do that which is right, but it should be between the individual and God to interpret that rule, so long as we act in a loving and peaceful manner.
We do not wish to be placed under government control nor subject ourselves to interference from outside sources. Thus we choose to exercise our right to stay free!
Please be generous in knowing that we are completely supported by contributions and our own church enterprises, being that we accept no government "help."
